Death record states:

"Assumed to be about 6:40am on Thursday 27 October 1870 in the sea near St. Abbs Head on the parish of Coldingham.

"Supposed to be have been drowned along with four companions forming the crew of the 'Follow Me' of Cove Village. Which is believed to have been accidentally capsized and sunk in a sudden gale."

"Body not recovered".

Registered based on information supplied by the Procurator Fiscal on 16 November 1870 at Cockburnspath.
